LED illumination system
Automotive LED illumination for Faraday Future – CES prototype
The Faraday Future electric vehicle featured innovative, dynamic front and side LED lighting, for which our customer Techniplas developed the light guide-based plastic exterior parts for a striking and futuristic vehicle design.
Arendi developed the complete prototype electronics of a modular front and side LED lighting system for Techniplas within just 3 months, including hardware, firmware and light control tool, thus enabling the timely presentation of the vehicle at CES in Las Vegas and the Detroit Auto Show.

Initial situation, goals & challenges
Techniplas received a last-minute order from Faraday Future to supply the fiber-optic front and side panels for a trade show vehicle and sought a partner capable of implementing the complete electronics in just three months. The goal was to present the vehicle on schedule at CES in Las Vegas, complete with functional and animated lighting. The central challenge lay in the extremely tight timeframe, as development, prototyping, and integration had to be completed without any leeway. An additional technical challenge was dissipating the very high temperatures generated by the more than 400 LEDs.
Project results & customer benefits
Within an extremely short timeframe, fully functional prototype electronics for the front and side lighting were developed and successfully integrated into the trade show vehicle, enabling the vehicle, including dynamic light animations, to be presented on schedule at CES in Las Vegas. Techniplas benefited from readily available electronics and firmware expertise and, despite a lack of internal expertise, was able to reliably meet a critical, non-negotiable trade show deadline and showcase its innovation internationally.

Implemented solution
Arendi created the concept and design of an automotive LED electronics architecture with CAN networking.
Design optimization to remove high temperatures
Development of LED modules with their own microcontroller, memory and firmware
CAN-based communication between the modules
Design of LED driver circuits for high-density RGB LED installations
Control of the 488 individually controllable color LEDs
Implementation of light sequences, animations and fade effects
Development of a PC tool for generating light patterns
Prototype builder of the complete electronics
