Differential pressure sensor for HVAC systems

Differential pressure sensor for HVAC systems
Electronics Design Support for Belimo Differential Pressure Sensors
The differential pressure sensor precisely measures pressure differences in ventilation and air conditioning systems. It supports building automation via Modbus or analog outputs, allowing for flexible integration into HVAC systems.
Arendi supported Belimo in the development of a modular electronics platform for differential pressure sensors, including PCB design and interface integration. Thanks to their high level of development expertise and holistic approach, a highly modular, production-ready solution was efficiently implemented.

Initial situation, goals & challenges
For modern building automation systems, a compact differential pressure sensor was needed that supported both digital and analog interfaces. The goal was to develop modular electronics that could be optimally integrated into the compact housing and flexibly accommodate various configurations – for example, with LCD and Modbus or with analog outputs.
The challenge lay particularly in the variety of configurations and the underlying modular concept, which significantly increased the complexity of the development process. At the same time, the solution had to consistently meet the high quality standards of Belimo AG and the modular product approach.
Project results & customer benefits
The result is an industrially robust differential pressure sensor electronics system that can be mass-produced and seamlessly integrated into various HVAC systems.
With Arendi as a development partner, Belimo was able to draw on the expertise of an experienced senior developer who efficiently implemented the electronics development to series production readiness. Their in-depth knowledge of Altium Designer and their experience in industrialization contribute to reducing project risks and ensuring targeted implementation.

Implemented solution
Arendi supported Belimo throughout the entire hardware development process – from schematic creation to the final PCB design. Particular emphasis was placed on a modular architecture that supports various configurations (e.g., with LCD/Modbus or analog outputs), as well as on an EMC-optimized, industrial-grade design.
Technical specifications:
Modular hardware design for different device variants
Integration of Modbus interface and analog output signals
Connecting LCD displays for extended device variants
EMC-compliant PCB design with Altium Designer for reliable industrial use
