Arendi Outlook® Cleanup
With the Outlook Cleanup it is easy to reformat any phone or fax number in the Outlook contact database. eg. adding the international country prefix +41, or the change of the area code for zurich from 01 to 044 is done.
Further more is the Outlook Cleanup able to remove any duplicates in the Outlook database (including contacts, calendar, notes and tasks). This functionality is especially helpful to solve problems after syncronization with your PDA or Mobile Phone.
Duplicate removal
“Arendi Outlook® Cleanup” is able to recognize and remove duplicates in the following Outlook folders:
- Contacts
- Calendar
- Notes
- Tasks
Number conversion
At the moment apart from the duplicate removal functionality the following number conversions are supported:
- International notation – 004155.. or 055.. will be replaced with +4155..
- Remove brackets with correction – +41(0)55.. will be replaced with +4155..
- Change comments to lower case – 055.. Summer Residence will be replaced with 055.. summer residence
- Remove comments
- Correction of the international notation – 4155.. will become +4155.., +41055.. will become +4155..
- International notation (00) – +4155.. or 055.. will be replaced with 004155..
- National notation – +4155.. or 004155.. will be replaced with 055..
- Special characters will be removed – (055) / 254\_30-30 will become 0552543030
- Swiss format with spaces – +41552543030 will become +41 55 254 30 30,
- Change of the area code for Zurich – 01.. will become 044..

Answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What do I need Outlook Cleanup for?
With Outlook Cleanup you can format all numbers in your database the same in an easy way, e.g. with the international preselection +41. Adapt new preselections as recently been done in Zürich (01 in 044) in a short time.
Additionally you’ll get support on solving problems arising when synchronizing with other databases: Missing + in international preselections or generated duplicates can be settled.
Is it possible to undo the changes made by Outlook Cleanup?
No. However Outlook Cleanup doesn’t make any changes to your database before you your confirmation in the preview (3rd step in the application). You can take a look at all clean up actions before they’ll be done.
Why doesn’t Outlook Cleanup convert/delete any entries at all?
There are several reasons. Is the correct area code configured in your operating system? Did you choose outlook folders containing entries in the 1st step? Did you select any action in the 2nd step and move at least one pattern to the active list?
And last but not least, it is also possible that the criteria in the choosen patterns do not match with your contact entries.
How can I format numbers according to my wishes?
Use the available patterns in the list which match. Take a look at the product site on the internet, there might be new patterns. You can of course generate new patterns by yourself.
Why some of the duplicates are not being removed?
There are several reasons. Did you choose outlook folders containing doubled entries in the 1st step? Are those alleged duplicates maybe not identical, e.g. one is a series element and the other with the same name is not? Is your version of Outlook Cleanup registered? Or a seemingly duplicated contact is related to multiple categories.
How can I execute Outlook Cleanup regularly without clicking through?
Use the silent mode by having a shortcut to Outlook Cleanup and adding –s in the command line (..\OutlookCleanup.exe –s).
How can I use different settings for my outlook folders?
Set up individual configuration files by building copies of the standard OutlookCleanup.xml which appears after running Outlook Cleanup and rename them, e.g. MyConfiguration.xml. Restart the application and change the settings according to your wishes (Outlook folders and patterns etc).
Make a shortcut to Outlook Cleanup and add –c MyConfiguration.xml to the command line (..\OutlookCleanup.exe –c MyConfiguration.xml).
